This is a one off item, a different spin on my best selling dagger style letter openers this one features a curvy / wavy blade, my take on a scaled down kris blade. Hand forged in rural Appalachia by Blacksmith Carter Conley They feel great in the hand and make a cool display piece on a desk or shelf. The letter opener features a full tang construction, incorporating a dagger style handle and guard . I choose to forge these from mild steel instead of high carbon blade steel for several reasons, cost of materials, time involved at the grinder / heat treating and the fact that a high carbon steel letter opener would be overkill, by making them from mild steel I can keep the cost down, and still deliver a unique better quality letter opener than mass produced ones. Iron is the Traditional 6 year wedding anniversary gift, Steel is the 11th year. The words Iron and Steel are almost always used interchangeably in Blacksmithing due to the availability of materials Items that would have been made from Wrought Iron, are now made from mild low carbon steel, the closest we as modern smiths can find readily available.
